Another Successful College Class

Posted on

As you may or may not know, Southern Maryland Fly Fishing hosted another event at the College Of Southern Maryland on April 16th. Introduction to fly fishing was once again a huge success. With our classroom nearly full the guides from SOMDFF conducted lessons to new and seasoned anglers wanting to explore the sport of fly fishing. During the seven hour class the guides gave instructions on flyrod selection, equipment set-up, basic knots, flies, where to fish and of course casting lessons. Everyone enjoyed themselves during this fun filled day and will be taking their new hobby on the road to explore their new adventure. Some students talked about preparing for fly fishing trips out west to Yellowstone, down south to the ocean at Hatteras, Chesapeake Bay saltwater, Virginia and West Virginia freshwater trout and bass streams and right here in Southern Maryland at the local lakes, ponds and streams. As you can see by our local fishing reports the fish are very active and there no better time to get out there with a fly rod and catch a few. Local lakes and ponds have been freshly stocked with trout,  and bass fishing is heating up with top water action which to fly anglers means dry fly fishing at it’s finest. If you couldn’t attend our last class at CSM, we plan to have another class this summer. This class will only be advertised at CSM on-line so you won’t see it in the CSM catalog, you will have to go on line at csmd.edu for information on fly fishing classes or you can simply book a class anytime by going to Southern Maryland Fly Fishing.com.

We hope to see you soon in class or out on the water,
but until then Tight Lines!
