Fly Casting Lessons

Have you ever seen a fly fishing angler on a stream or lake, enjoying the peace and quiet of the great outdoors and thought to yourself, “someday I want to learn how to fish like that”? Now is the perfect time to learn! In the Southern Maryland Fly Fishing lessons program, we teach you everything you need to know in order to start catching fish on a fly rod. You will learn how to select a fly rod, rig it up properly, select and tie a fly, and cast your fly rod. You will learn the proper technique for catching and releasing local panfish and bass from experienced fly fishers at an affordable cost.

We are currently teaching everyone from teens to seniors to fly fish. Enjoy the natural beauty of fly fishing while observing the great outdoors and wildlife Southern Maryland has to offer. We conduct our lessons at one of the local lakes in Charles, Calvert, or St. Mary’s County.

Our lessons covers everything from equipment setup and knot tying to fly selection and casting techniques, which typically last for 2-3 hours, all for just $100!

If you have experience fly fishing, tell us what you want to learn. We will create a customized lesson just for you.

Don’t have a fly rod? We can provide one for you to use for the duration of the lesson free of charge. We have fly rods in stock for you to purchase as well.

A Maryland non-tidal fishing license with a trout stamp is required, and can be purchased from the Maryland DNR website link on our resources page.
